Tough US economy
Too bad as not only Tim Hewitt was very knowledgeable he was also a true gentleman.
Dear myOstrich Golf Customer,
The recent two year down turn in the golf industry has taken a toll
on many suppliers and component manufacturers in the golf industry.
Reduced staff, overall lower inventory levels, margin erosion
resulting in limited profits and a general drop in sales has forced
many out of business, and others to take often drastic actions to
keep their business healthy.
myOstrich Golf has not escaped these ravages of the current economic
climate, and we have suffered our own reduction in staff, salaries
and service in reaction to the economy.
After some serious soul searching, we have decided to make a dramatic
change in our business model in order to stay healthy for the long
run. Tim Hewitt, our principal owner and Master Clubmaker, has taken
a short term contract position with a Fortune 500 company in the
Semiconducor industry starting in mid March. Tim will be living
overseas during this assignment, and though he will still be
available through the magic of the Internet, he will no longer be
available on site to oversee daily operations.Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

Indeed a sign of the times in the US. I've ordered from Tim a few times since he stocks the full line of SKFiber shafts. Very friendly and great service. Everyone is using Tim's name in the past tense like he bought the farm or something! He will still be online, just that he won't actually be making clubs while he is on his contract. He (they) will continue to do drop ship sales from manufacturers who will support the new model. Hopefully things will improve enough in the future so he can get back to what we know he would rather be doing.
I don't have an ulcer - I am just a carrier.
