    Canadians to buy out Laraque

A fighter who no longer fights. Other than the timing, no big surprise...

i would have thought that before they made it public, they might have tried to put him through waivers and then bring him back through re-entry waivers and see if one of the 29 teams would have taken him for 1/2 the bill. I mean he only makes 1.5 million, so you would think another team would have taken a flyer on him for 0.75million for sure. I know he is a shell of what he used to be, but I would think there would be a taker on re-entry.

Perhaps it was out of respect to George that they did not do this. I would think it would be quite embarrassing for a veteran to have to go through this.

I think he will still fight but he doesn't want to beat on small guys outside of his weight class. I think he is one of the best tough guys in the game and not a bad fourth liner. Does all for the community as well. I'm sure a team will pick him up.

He has a No Movement Clause in his contract. Can't trade or waive him.
