Quebec City
Planning a weekend in Quebec City for the May 24 long weekend. Any recommendations for a round while we are there? $$ is not too much of an issue, better conditions preferred.
Cheers

How about Club de Golf la Tempete? It's where the Skins game was played last year

I heard good things of Le Grand Vallon at Mont-Ste-Anne just outside of Quebec city (east side)

Well, depends on what kind of course you like to play.
La Tempête (never played) and La Faune (you get used quickly to the nearby highway buzz)would be good choices if you like bentgrass and newer designs
For more traditional type of courses, Royal Québec may suit you (Québec course is more challenging); Grand Vallon is also a good suggestion, but you might be swearing on some ill-designed greens (#1 #8 #9) and very dusty carpaths. Sainte-Marie de Beauce would also be a good choice on the south shore, traditional, nothing fancy.
BUT:
Be sure to check out on courses' condition. Québec region is NOT Ottawa. We may be 2-4 weeks away from playing conditions in your area. Spring has been miserable here in the last 5 years, so it would be wise to inquire before unfolding a 100$ bill.
Personally, I would avoid St-Nicolas (Stasny course - yeark!) and Albatros, unless you have one leg a lot shorter than the other (uneven lies)!
I am currently member at
http://www.golfst-laurent.com/fr/accueil.html but I am in love with the beautiful scenery, it's a 15 minute ride from home, very v-e-r-y wide and can play long (6900). But that's me!

I really enjoyed a nice club 20 minutes from downtown on Ile de Orleans. St. Larent's golf club is a cheaper alternative. http://www.golfst-laurent.com/en/accueil_en.html you may want to ride as holes nine and eighteen are made for donkeys. They are linked to a hotel in the old quebec but i got a better deal at a nicer hotel using hotwire.com. Enjoy!!

Hi Garth,
Le Grand Vallon is a very nice course. I played it about 6 years ago and if I recall correctly the greens are crazy and the scenery is amazing. You can see the St-Laurent from some holes. I’m not sure but I think cart is mandatory so check if you prefer walking as I know you do.
The other course I played was on the Orleans island. I don’t remember the name but I don’t recommend it.
Will you be there at HP meeting on the 27th?Strive for perfection, but never expect it!
