Fort Lauderdale golf- any recommendations?

I'll be there during the last week of January. I've golfed at Grand Palms and Jarcaranda before. Do you know of any good courses under $60?
I'll be staying near the Sawgrass Mills mall.

Woodmont is a nice one. you can play either the Cypress 18 (the more popular of the two) or the Pines. Reasonably priced and in very good shape. Another is Pompano Beach. It’s the municipal golf course (but don’t let that dissuade you it’s a pretty good track. Again option of two 18s – Palms and Pines – we played Palms and it was great.

One I have yet to play but have heard good things is Bonaventure. It’s a little more expensive but what the hell – its golf!

From looking at the map, Sunrise gc is close to where we are staying. Have you heard anything about this course?

No we have never had a chance to play there. Hopefully the weather warms up for your trip down. Heard from a friend that it went down to 32 degrees a few nights ago!!

It suppose to get up to the mid 20's degree C by this weekend. Cross my fingers!

Are you driving or flying? I normally drive to Florida but can only make it for a week this year, wondering if you fly diretc from Ottawa?

I have direct flights from Ottawa

Westjet on the way down and Air Canada on the way up.

Just finished my 4th round in Fort Lauderdale. Played Bonaventure East, Palm Aire Cypress and Grand Palms a couple of times. I booked all the rounds thru CAN AM golf...very satisfied with their service. Would definitely use them again. Check out their site:

Shot an 99, 95, 83 and 89. Was kind of tired during my forth round in 4 days but the warm weather was so nice. You can compare me to yellow snow now

I've been in the Orlando area the past few years, any recommendations in the Fort Lauderdale area around the courses mentioned above?

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express near University St. and Sunrise Blvd. It met our needs...pool, wireless internet, parking and hot breakfast included. Got a great deal on hotwire.com
This hotel was about 20 - 25 minute drive to all of the courses i played. Its close to the hockey stadium and to Sawgrass Mills Outlet mall.

Grand Palms is a resort course.

If your wife is a beach person then i would suggest staying along the east coast or in the Los Olas area...has trendy shops/restaurants and close to the beaches. Lot of golf courses to choose from in the Fort Lauderdale area.

4 of us traveled to Ft Lauderdale and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott, 440 Seabreeze $179 a night/rm it was very nice, nice pool bar. Played Jacaranda East and West, West is the nicer of the two, Plantation Preserve, very nice newer course, and Inverarry, East and West, its a bit tired looking but $80 for two rounds was pretty decent. Ask for the Canadian Golfer card, you can get at least the local resident rate. Also instead of taxis use the shuttle services that are running around, much nicer vehicles for the same price as a taxi. I have the number of a guy that did all of our transporting, he has an Expedition, message me if you would like it.
