Too many variables in a 1 game elimination tourney like the Olympics. Give me a best of 7 series and I'll take Canada every time. In a 1 game for all the marbles scenario one bad bounce, one bad call, one hot goalie can make the difference.

Does anyone think that the US Miracle on Ice team from 1980 beats the Russians in a best of 7?? Not a freaking chance, Russia wins that series 4-1 95 times out of 100

...Which is what I believe makes it more exciting. All the great world tournaments are single game elimanation...The FIFA World Cup, The Rugby World Cup, The FA Cup, The Cricket World Cup, All Olympic team events, etc etc..even NFL Football...all tournaments that make the NHL look extremely small by comparison.

In single elimination it is romantic, exciting, the underdog has a REAL chance. Best of 7 games with seeding (ie North America) is just boring, because it is all set up to get the "best" teams to win which is somewhat predictable.

This is obviously IMO...I'm sure most of you will think I'm mad, but I really enjoy the drama of straight knockout...which is why I prefer Olympic Hockey to NHL

By the way sillywilly...I'll take you bet. I do think Canada is good enough to win and that they will. (Srixon Z star please )

Jon, Vegas doesn't make money on the line but on the vig (vigorish)

For example player "A" bets $110 on head and player "B" bets $110 on tail ..... the winner gets $210.

Vegas doesn't care who winds because they get $10 either way.

Willy doesn't take the vig... he is so generous. You bet 3 balls and you win 3 balls or lose. If you think the bet is not fair offer people the same bet as Willy...

so if anyone wants to take the field over russia they can... its 3:1 I already said I would take russia over the field.

I didn't set the odds. It would be stupid to take russia against the field at even money. Canada IS even money against the field so thats why I'm taking that bet at even. the field against russia is 3-1. I'm not gonna take a DOG against the field at even money.
