Fave Music/New Discoveries of 2009
Anyone have any gems they discovered in terms of music this year? For me i'm in love with Delta Spirit, Blitzen Trappen, Elliott Brood and the Animal Liberation Orchestra. Check any of em out and you won't be disappointed!

Emily Haines - Really unique voice and a brilliant songwriter, performer.
Jesca Hoop - Same as above.
Black Strobe - Euro-electronic, but more industrial and edgy. When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

I wouldn't say discovered, as I originally heard singles from them on the radio, but I went out and bought their respective CDs just based on one single from each.
Rev Theory
Shinedown
Very pleased with the entire CDs. Only one weak song on the RT disc, but there are a couple of weak songs (and by weak, I mean songs I don't like as much as the others) on the Shinedown disc."A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." M.Pare 10/09/08

Two new "Supergroups" came along that defunked the theory that being called a supergroup is a recipe for disaster.
Jack White's new band - The Dead Weather and John Paul Jones' band - Them Crooked Vultures.
Both awesome CD's.
Meanwhile, Chickenfoot chose to support the aforementioned theory.

I was driving across the country over the holidays and listening to CBC radio. On the Strombo show I heard a band from England called 'the XX' who are really great to listen to

TCV's just incredible. Went to see them in Toronto back in October. Somehow better live than on the CD.
Hopefully they stay together for another CD while not stopping Queens of the Stone Age from also recording a new CD.
Also need to agree on Silversun Pickups - - Swoon is a really good CD from beginning to end.

Luis Miguel made an album called Romance.
It's Spanish bolero. I love it.

I love his music. I regularly listen to his album, Mexico en la Piel. For those who are not familiar with his music, have a listen: http://www.lala.com/#album/360569445187740378 Quite a number of the songs on the album are available in full on the previous site.

If you'd like to listen to some of their songs, go to this site: http://www.lala.com/#artist/Them_Crooked_Vultures If you click on the Play Top Songs icon at the beginning of their songs listing, you should get all of at least one song.

I like Crooked Vultures as well. I also discovered Wolfmother and enjoy them as well.
New this year also is Channel #901 on Bell Expressvu which is a good mix between #902 (Alternative Rock) and #904 (Classic Rock) both of which couldn't be litstened to all day. I can leave #901 on all day.

Just a heads up to any fans of Them Crooked Vultures. They're the musical guest on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night. If you can sit through an hour and a half of mediocre sketch comedy, you'll get to seem them perform two songs. Likely New Fang and one not on the radio (Mind Eraser/No Chaser is my guess). Should be good.
