    Oil Can Care

Looks like i'm picking up an OC Santa FE tomorrow and I wanted to know what the proper way is to care for this thing?

Just clean it (run some tap water over it) and make sure it's dry after every round, that's the main thing. Put a bit of baby oil or silicone on after if you want for extra protection. I use a silicone cloth on mine, but you don't have to. You can usually pick them up for $8-10 shipped on TCC, someone around here might even have a few extras. Some people don't recommend baby oil because it can pick up fertilizer when you're playing, but as long as you wipe the putter down after applying it, it's no big deal. It's when there's a real coating on it that it can pick up stuff.

Oil can will wear along the edges of the putter head with use, most of that wear coming from putting on and taking off the headcover, but that's normal and not much you can really do about it.

Oh yeah, never leave it in a wet headcover. You will have a wicked rusted finish in a day if you do that.

One of the favourite silicone spray is CRC Electrical grade. It is very light and does a great job of protecting the finish. I used this on all of my Camerons and does a great job.

Where do you find that? I went on a quest to get some a couple years back and came up empty at every small and big box hardware store around here. Even came up empty at Home Depot and Lowes in the states.

I would also be interested to know where you found that.

I found it at a Home Depot in Detroit.
