    Leaf Fans Classless

Watching the game last night I heard the fans booing Alfie. I said to myself wait a minute...I thought this was a Sens home game. Sure enough, it was the classless leaf fans stooping to a new low. Booing our Captain in our own building. I didn't think Leaf fans could get any worse but I was wrong...

Team 1200 listener said it best. The Leaf fans had to boo our Captain because they haven't got a captain of their own.

They've been doing it for a few years now. Time for Sens fans to cheer louder to drown out the boos and stop complaining.

It's kinda sad, they are booing him for a hit that happened what 6+ years ago? But I guess if you don't have something to cheer for, the least you can have is something to boo for. I can guarantee that Alfie must love it, knowin that after so many years he still gets under the leaf fans skin

I'm with 3Jack. What's sad is that the Sens fans can't drown them out. There's nothing wrong with a little passion from the fans, and if that means booing an opposition player, so be it. Are the leaf fans supposed to sit quietly in the stands because its not their arena? Do they have to keep their mouths shut when they score? Leafs/Sens is one of the bigger rivalries in hockey, and its not because the fans are sitting quietly in the stands sipping on tea and crumpets.

Apparently the Toronto Raptors help fans make noise when the visising teams are making free throws ..... They put Alfie's picture on the scoreboard to get them to boo

When the other fans hate you so much that they boo you all the time then you know you've done something right! If I was Alfie I would wear it as a badge of honour being able to p.o. the Toronto fans so much!

The one time it was truly tasteless was 2 years ago when Bell flattened Alfie (in Toronto) and the crowd cheered while he lay on the ice. They then booed when he got up and hobbled off. That was disgusting.

unless a guy is killed or seriously injured (leaves on a stretcher into an ambulance), i am ok with fans booing or cheering whatever they want. fans pay money so they can be classless.

That was my point. Alfie was seriously injured on that hit and the crowd kept cheering as he lay there in obvious distress. Obviously fans can do what they want (it is a free country) but that had to be one of the most classless displays I have ever seen.

Otherwise I find it highly amusing that Leafs fans hate him so much they have to boo him all the time. As others have said if Sens fans don't like it drown 'em out. But you will never catch me "cheering" when someone is laying on the ice seriously injured.

and i agree. if the athlete can get up and walk away then fans can go ahead and act like animals. it's all in good fun. athletes actually love the animosity from the fans. Alfie said so himself after that incident.

my condolences (sp?) to leafs fans. after watching them take a 5-4 lead against the worst team in the league, i turned the channel because i thought they would win. Instead they gave up a goal with 1 second left and lost in OT. lol. i'm so sorry.

It is amusing how they continue to find new ways to lose games.

But on a more positive note - with the first over all pick of the 2010 Entry Draft, the BOSTON BRUINS are pleased to select...........

Burke is over-rated. Vancouver did nothing on his watch. Brian Murray was largely responsible for the the Anaheim win but Burke gets all the credit which I find ironic because Burke doesn't take responsibility for the Leafs because he "inherited" much of that team.......I guess he has a short memory

i remember burke crying to the media when Detroit played Vancouver years ago. "Todd Bertuzzi does not play for the Detroit Red Wings. It just looks like it because he has 3 red sweaters hangng off him all night" boo hoo.

although i agree that Burke is largely overrated, he did a couple 'pretty' good things for Anaheim. Was he not responsible for Pronger, Niedermayer and Selanne because Burke either got them, or convinced them out of retirement. Now even if the other 23 guys were inherited, without the 3 players mentioned above the Ducks wouldn't have won that Cup.

It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Most people in this area grew up being Toronto or Montreal fans since Ottawa didn't have a team. Many have changed over to Ottawa fans but TO and Mtl have been around a long time so it makes sense taht they would have lots of fans here.

I would prefer Kessel over anyone that is coming up in the 2011 Draft....besides....leafs are looking good as of late and they are doing something that ottawa needs to learn how to do.....shoot the puck....we are top 3 in Shots per game.

    Go leafs!!

Good thing, can you imagine how many losses they'd have if they didn't shoot the puck everthing they touched it

Seriously though with the Leafs drafting track record they were better off trading the two first rounders for Kessel.
