2009 Drivers
How many of you bought a new driver during this season. And did it improve your game.
I bought an TM R7 Limited driver in Houston last month and have really improved my driving both in distance and accuracy. I hit the first six fairways in a row on Saturday and finished with 12/14 with my misses due to me forgetting not to aim for my slice - old habits die hard.
I'm just sad that the season is almost over.

Ended the year with the same drivers (yes plural) that I started with.
Even more spectacular was the fact that I also managed to keep the shaft setup in my primary driver the same for the entire year! Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I can tick both options - just like last year!
Only bought a few new ones this year - a Titleist and a couple of Wishons. I really wanted the Wishon 919THI to work, but the trusty $30 Orlimar always seems to come out on top in the end. I hit a few demos throughout the year, but the only one that has really interested me was the Ping G10. I'll probably buy one - eventually!

Kept the same Cobra driver as last year - but had it reshafted with an Accra XT60 shaft at Artisan golf.

Added an R9 to the arsenal but still messing with shaft options etc
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

2009 a busy year for Drivers
This year I purchased the
- Titleist 907 D1 driver
- Nike SQ Dymo2 STR8-Fit Driver
- Callaway FT-iQ Tour Driver (GT Demo Sale)
Why three drivers? It is easier to blame the equipment than my swing.
The Callaway will be the keeper and I will sell the Titleist and Nike drivers (and invest in golf lessons).
Bye.
retread.Determined to keep the rough trimmed. One swing at a time.

Bought and stayed with an R7 CGB Limited. I have the 55gram shaft in it and like it a lot.

Went with a G10 in July after a couple years with a 905R. Pretty happy with the switch as I'm actually hitting fairways these days.

I purchased the FT-9 this year and I have never hit a driver so bad in all my life. But to it's credit, my swing was pretty horrendous this year. So I am going to work hard over the winter and then see next summer.
When I did put a good swing on it, she was a beauty.

Taylor Made Burner
Purchased a Taylor Made Burner 9* at GolfTown on sale. Used it for a while then went back to my Wishon 919THI 9*/w SK Fiber Lite Revolution 1 shaft, and Lamkin grip. The 919THI is a great driver.

I picked up a Titleist 909D Comp in the spring and it has knocked out my 905R that was in the bag for two years.

I bought the Burner, and combined with lessons, started shooting in the high 80's. That's a big, big improvement from the year before. Also started driving the ball 250-260ish on average. Again, big improvement, slice went bye bye.

Various balls. Mostly the Exception. Not really attached to any ball, just don't use ones that feel like rocks. This summer I've played pro v1, callaway hx bite (which i loved), some taylor mades.

I also played a number of different balls this summer. Pro V1, HX Hot, Taylor Made, and Bridgestone. Hard to settle on one ball. I've playing the Taylor Made TP Black recently and I really like this ball. They are also about $10.00 less expensive than the Pro V1's. It's a very good ball also.

Got a sweet deal on a new to me, used HiBore XLS. 10.5* and I put in an Aldila NVS Pink 75s. Launches really high and carries a long way, but not much run. I end up playing a slight cut with it. A nice set up, but doesn't beat the Speedline 9032LS w/ Voodoo I had earlier in the summer. Probably the longest and relatively straightest driver I ever owned. If it wasn't for the club ho in me, it would still be in the bag.

I did buy new wedges in Houston at the same time as the driver.
TM 52&56 degree TP's. I believe the grooves won't be as friendly on next years versions. http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=4297417

I bought the R9 earlier in the season and have been very pleased with the results. After fiddling with different shafts I had an Accra SE70* installed and love the combo. During the demo sale I tried all the drivers we had and none could supplant the R9/Accra combo.
