Golfing in Dominican (Punta Cana)

Newbie on this site...
I'd like to know if anyone has golfed recently in Punta Cana and if so, could let me know about the prices and anything else that may be useful to know.

Myself and about 18 other friends/family will be down at the end of December.

Generally speaking I find information on Caribbean golf courses somewhat sketchy, hard to find on the web, and quite often inaccurate. My advice is to call around when you get to your destination. Check for twilight rates - if you can snag the first tee time you can often get 18 holes in. Also, depending on the course, sometimes it is not busy and you can play REALLY fast. I have played as fast as 2 hours and 20 minutes for 18 holes with only a handful of people around. I've played in Cuba, Mexico, DR, Jamaica, St Lucia, and Bahamas. Prices can range from free (Barcelo Bavaro Beach if you stay there ) to $250 US at the Moon Palace in Cancun . All include cart. The Bavaro Beach course was OK, probably like the quality of Manderley here in Ottawa. Others in the Punta Cana area are better and most are over $100.
