I could see a connection through Toronto first. MB Direct Air is doing great out of Niagara Falls NY, so the Toronto connection may pan out.

so what's the advantage then? Pay more to get the same service? I can already fly to MB non-direct for less than they will likely charge. I think it has to be direct for it to work.

It all depends on price and timing of the flights. Can Porter fill a plane from Ottawa if they only fly Saturdays? MB Direct Air is having trouble from Plattsburgh, NY and have had to cancel flights, etc. I'm not sure that Ottawa has enough traffic to support a direct link to MB

It’s going to be hard for Porter to beat Direct Air prices specially out of Ottawa anyway. Direct Air offers flight starting at $99.00 ($198.00 both ways), plus parking is free at the Plattsburgh airport, versus $90.00 a week at Ottawa International Airport. Depending what the Porter Airline fees will be we might be better off taking the 3 hour drive to Plattsburgh.


I just went this past October from Plattsburgh for a total price of $306.00 CDN both ways luggage included (golf bags + suitcase), versus $700.00 from Ottawa with one or two transfers depending who you wanted to fly with!!! Porter wasn’t offering anything at the time.

that's my point. if there is not enough demand, routing people through Toronto kinda defeats the purpose. I can already fly to MB via Detroit, Atlanta, DC, Newark, Philly, etc. and likely for less cost than what Porter will charge.

A quick search shows nothing cheaper than $259 for a one-way flight in Feb or March 2010. Over $680 with taxes in for return flight.

yep, just checked for the end of april when we go....$722 all in for the cheapest flight. As I expected.

Be sure also to look into flights out of Syracuse to Myrtle and all southern US destinations ... very affordable ...
