    Removing chrome on wedges?

    dbleber:
Does anybody have any thoughts on how to remove the chrome finish on wedges? I don't like the glare and want a raw finish that will rust for more spin. I don't know what kind of damage this will do to the club once the finish is remove and if a raw finish on the vokeys/cleveland are really bare steel. Anyone have any thoughts?

Media blast with a fine silica would be the quickest/easiest way...
could probably do a decent job with a $19 siphon feed sandblast gun from Princess Auto, and a half decent compressor (~2hp with a 5g tank)

After blasting, you could buff the head to a nice satin, and leave the blasted texture on the face.

If you do not have access to sandblasting equipment, you can try Automotive Rubbing compound (or Carborandum powder mixed with oil) with a very fine (XX or XXX) steel wool . It will remove the glare and will not affect the plating significantly. It works well on sailboat hardware.
