Having a spike issue with my Eccos
Need some help. I guess I waited too long to change my softspikes, and now I can't get them out. I'm using needle nose pliers. There a secret way to get them out easily?

Do you have the Q-lock or the other model?
A good spike wrench is probably your best bet. Just clean out the two holes that the spike wrench prongs go into and you should be able to get them out. The divot tool / spike wrench combos do not usually work that well on tough to remove spikes. Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

I have one you can use should yo unot have one. Also, on a similar note, I have some Nike Shoes that I can no longer get a spike to go into, thoughts?

Typically grits and bits of grass go in the space between the spike and sho. I use a sharp knife to pry in the gap and get as much crap as I can out. then use the spike wrench to get the offending spike out.

Off Topic, but there were a lot of Ecco's at GT Trainyards for $100. Not sure if they've been like that for a while or not.
Too bad they're too narrow for my wide foot. They're awesome looking shoes.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

They don't carry the wider widths?
The issue for my spikes is they're so worn down in the middle, that I can't use anything to grip and turn the spike. It's like soft soft rubber.Donny Vantage NFL Guru, since 1974

if you place the shoes in some shallow, warm water, just enough to cover the spikes, it will soften the dirt and grit. Shouldn't take more than 15-20 min to be ready to remove

I can't offer any other advice to removing old spikes, but when I buy new shoes, I remove the spikes and put a lubricant in the holes.

Spike Removal
Donnie I have Ecco's and I place them into a vice when replacing the spikes. This method allows for two handed spike tool use and a little more leverage. Works for me.

I own three pairs of Eccos (screw in type)and use a spike tool to remove them and no problems. Now if they are down to bare metal I can't help you. I'd probably put some wd40 on the spikes and attempt with vise grips.

I've run into this problem a few times and found vicegrips have removed them each time. Sometimes it's a challenge to get a grip - but it's always worked for me.

I changed about 4 pairs of shoes last weekend and I use a top notch spike remover but couldn't budge and old spike tore in about half dozen cases. I did something I have never done before but worked flawlessly with no damage to shoes. I took a small drill bit (size of existing holes) and carefully drilled a little further into existing holes to allow for better grip. Worked flawlessly using the spike remover and no damage to threads in shoes. Just be carefully and don't drill too deep.
