Other than the usual closest to the pin, longest drive..

I was at a corp tourny on the weekend and there was allot of talk other than the usual closest to the pin, longest drive.. what other things could be done.

One was the most accurate drive, another was the fastest hole, each team times the one behind them as they place themselves out on the fairway and see which team sinks the ball in the hole the fastest.

    Any other ideas?

It depends on the type of tournament. One year for a charity members only tournament at our course, the GM used a "fall theme" as it was late in the year. Keep in mind it was a "fun" and not competitive day so these are not your standard in tournament games:
    1) one hole was played from your wrong side. Clubs were provided for the hole, and right handed players played left and vice versa
    2) On one hole a large hole (using a small bucket as a template) was cut on the side of a very large hill on the greeen. It was suprisingly harder to putt into than it appeared because of the large slope.
    3) One hole had us teeing up off a pumpkin (drivers provided if you wanted). There was pumpkin pieces everywhere!
    4) On one green they scattered a lot of apples all over the surface. You were not allowed to move any of the apples, but could use them to bounce off if neccessary.

There were others, but these were some of the more memorable ones.

    Hockey Gloves

Pick one hole where all players have to wear hockey gloves to hit their drives BUT for $5 they can hit without the hockey gloves on.

at our corporate tournament, we also had:

    1) a tin cup hole (par 4) - you can only use a 7-iron for the whole hole, including putting
    2) poker hole (par 5) - pick a card from a deck of cards and the card you pick corresponds to a specific club which you have to use for the whole hole (except putting). A = driver, 2 = fairway wood, 3-10 = the corresponding iron (i.e. 5 = 5-iron, 10 = PW), face cards are wild.
    3) dice hole (par 3) - roll a six-sided dice before you tee off. Based on what you roll, it determines which tees you play from. 1&2 = red tee, 3&4 = white tee, 5&6 = blue tee.

Keep in mind though that this was a best-ball tournament. So #2 in particular would be really hard to do if its not a team event.

give everyone a ball with their name or initials on it. The person who keeps their ball the longest without losing it wins a prize.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

We played a round with a few newbies at my buddy's bachelor party. To help even things out, the person(s) who scored best on a hole had to tee off with a PW on the next. I thought it made for a fun day and didn't slow us down too much.
