Where to Golf in Quebec City?

I will be in Quebec City in a few weeks and am looking for a couple of rounds of golf. I am booked at La Tempete (2009 Telus Skins), but am wondering if anyone has played courses in the area that they would recommend?

    thanks.

Le Grand Vallon is very nice (it's at the foot of Mont-Ste-Anne).

Golf de la Faune is a new links style course that is closer to the city that is quite nice for a new course.

It's a little drive away but I was going to suggest Le Grand Vallon as well (haven't been there in a decade though). It might have been the nicest golf experience I ever had (I tend to golf cheaper courses). I played the course with my uncle while on a family vacation. If I remember correctly, it cost about $55 for my green fees. At the time I thought that number was high but in retrospect, it was cheap... While you're there, take a gondolla ride up Mont Ste Anne.

They played the Skins Game at http://www.golflatempete.com/en/accueil.asp this year, might be worth a go.

That tempete looked very difficult, it had the Pros wondering where their putts were going.

I played St-Laurent 2 years ago and although the view of the St-Lawrence is nice (it's on Ile d'Orleans), the course is really nothing special.

    home turf...

Tempête is a great venue...expensive but real fun, you feel alone on the golf course the way the holes are setup and seperated, 13 hole links with 5 holes in the woods. not that difficult.

Golf de la faune...unknown underated. real nice course and very difficult, probably the most difficult in the region so bring your balls... sound of traffic is a turnoff of course.

the Saint-Laurent is not private, its a fun golf track, very long but wide. on the river, it is nice.

Albatros is not worth price, they have done nothing to the course in years yet the rates go up.

I would go to the Grand Portneuf

    Stastny, golf St-Michel, Charny...pass

    La Grand Portneuf (Quebec City)
Well, 'conferencing' in Quebec City and found the 'opportunity' to do some 'business' on one of the local tracks. About 30 mins outside the downtown core, this course has 36 holes and, after having played 2 of the 4 nines, reminded me very much of Montebello for scenery and variations in hole layout with conditions one could find at the Royal Ottawa or the Hunt.

Well trapped greens of good size nestled in varies valleys and plateaus, rushing rivers and numerous bridge crossings overtop whitewater rapids. The 'wow' factor on virtually every hole!

However, what I found really 'neat' in the world of 'neat things in golf course design' was the outdoor moving sidewalks they have installed on two of the holes to take you from green to elevated tees!! These are similar in nature to the moving sidewalks found in most airports these days. However, on you get at the base with pushcart in front of you and via a push of the button up, up, way up you go! Total run was about 50 yds. with an elevation change of about 100 ft . Simply put - NEAT!

And all this fun was had for a grand total of $31.00 +tx.!!

A couple more days of 'conferencing' left. Two more nines to go....lol

    Le Grand Portneuf Moving Sidewalks

Further to my earlier email, here's what I was talking about wrt 'moving sidewalks' from green to tee. Played all 4 nines and was treated great by the proshop and clubhouse staff as a visitor from out of province. Highly recommend it!
