As the new owner of Google Android phone (HTC Magic) I have to agree.

I have the Wikitude app installed on my phone and although I haven't tried it out yet it looks very cool. Several of the apps are very similar.

One that is really cool is the Google Sky app which shows you the star map based on your GPS position and the orientation of the phone.

I can barely pick up messages on my four year old Bell/Samsung "flip" phone. Out of interest how much does the average "app" cost? Heard a bit on TV a while back about a "free" phone but the monthly on it was like $450. Is that possible?

For $450 a month you'd have to be on no data plan and going at the "overcharge" rate for data. Depending on the provider you are looking at around $30/mon for a 500MB data plan.

The actual phone costs vary according to plan but if you are a new subscriber you can get a decent phone for about $100.

As far as apps go, on the Android phones you can only get free apps right now in Canada unless you hack the phone. iPhone apps are anywhere from $1 to $100 for the premium apps.

Right now there are a LOT more iPhone apps than Android ones because they have an 18 month head start but I am banking on the Google phenomena to help that situation.
