Sh** Happens...
Okay, I think I've calmed down enough to get this off of my chest.
I played at Stonebridge yesterday (Monday) and shot my worst round in 20 years, 44-47 for a Gods honest 91. I hit a grand total of 6 fairways and 4 greens. You could have fried an egg on top of my head.
I'm not blowing my own horn here, but I play to a solid 7 handicap right now (of course that number's going up now), and last year at this time I was shooting 80 and 76 on the Old and New courses at St. Andrews.
You know the part in Tin Cup when Roy develops the shanks and the Doc shows up at his place and he's got all the swing gadgets strapped to him? I'm not quite that far gone (yet) but you wouldn't believe the things that go through your head. I almost torched our dinner last night because I'm standing there in the back yard with a club in my hands swinging with my right eye closed, then my left eye, then both eyes. Meanwhile the chicken is going full blast on the BBQ. My dogs are looking at me like I'm hooked on crack. It's pretty scarry stuff.
Whew. I feel better now. Thanks for listening...
Now where the hell did I put that @#$%^&* Bob Rotella book. When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Yep, that's why they call it golf...
It is the most frustrating game in the world. I've been trying to figure it out for years.

Welcome to my world, I had the shanks last year for a few rounds. I'm only now NOT thinking of shanks on every shot I take. And imagine, we pay big bucks to play this game, but what a great game!

Lob,
Start with the basics, chipping and putting. Go a whole week without taking a full swing. Just chip and putt balls. It will come back in a rush. Your mind is not playing golf it's playing swing. One week. Only chipping and putting. Give it a try for a week and let me know how it has works.

It is just one round so don't worry about it. Want to build your confidence back up? Go play a round at the kingsway.

People, people, people...its all mental. You've got failure on the brain. Take a break. Treat yourself. Play a goofy round with only your 7 iron. Make it fun again.

These things that get into your head are sometimes hard to get out. :jitter
I was also just venting some frustrations, a lack of game for a couple weeks. :mad
The funny thing is that even though I shot 94 with a 10 and and 8 in three holes, I was still having fun. I was laughing at the bad shots cuz they were indeed funny to watch.
The good shots were like my game used to be, and low and behold on sunday I shot 81 with 3 three putts.
