    Corrupted Drive

    My external hard drive has mysteriously gone on the fritz. My computer cannot access its contents. Any attempt to do so, generates the following message: The File Or Directory Is Corrupted And Unreadable. I know that the HD is mechanically sound, as I was able to recover some photos from the drive using Recuva. Unfortunately, Recuva was only looking for deleted photos that it can recover.

    Any suggestions as to how I might reasonably access the contents of my external HD? I have a lot of photos in there that I should have saved to CDs, but foolishly did not.

    Try using Hiran's Boot CD http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd and using the various recovery tools.
