Garmin Nuvi 255W - Golf Software??
I recently won a Garmin Nuvi GPS and I was wondering if anyone has tried installing golf related applications through the POI tool on one of these devices? I have tried the Intelli and BBGPSGolf on my bberry, but if I could load a golf course map on my garmin it would be much better.
Does anyone have any experience of points of reference for me to look into?

Garmin Nuvi Golf Software
You can load GPS golf maps into the Nuvi. The 255 model has the capability to measure direct distance (off-road setting). The limitation is that it must be set to measure meters, because the English setting only displays feet or miles. I glued a meter-to-yard chart on the back of my Nuvi 205 and it works great.
I have a website that gives you instructions on how to do it. There's also a web tool that allows you to make your own maps. It's all free, even the map download page that has completed maps from other users.
Unfortunately, I can't post the link due to the rules of the forum. You may be able to find it by Googleing.
