    Arrow Review: 909 D Comp

As you know I recently unloaded a Titleist D1 10.5* w/ GD YS 6+ s-flex shaft. I don't think I've hit a driver that was both as accurate and long as the D1. But a 909 D Comp popped up again on the board. And seeing as how I missed out on a great deal on one earlier in the year, I reluctantly let the D1 go. The Comp came with a GD YS 6+ R-flex shaft and was an 11.5*. I knew both wouldn't work for me, but with Intersectionals happening on Sun and no time to re-shaft it I gave it a go.

To my surprise, it worked quite well. Although for an 11.5* it launched quite low. But it was pretty much point and shoot with a nice little draw.....that's right, I said it. A draw...I haven't had one of those consistently in about 5 seasons. Although when I tried to go after it I could either lose it way right or have a snap hook, to which I would attribute to the soft shaft.

I was in at Golfworks a while back knowing I'd need a shaft for this driver. They had a Vista Pro 80 in X-flex for only $30ish. Being a little hesitant, I decided to grab the Fuji to give it a try. Forum member Bob Lefebvre re-shafted it for me and I got to try it out tonight for the first time.

WOW!!!!! Ballflight is nice, feel is smooth, the little draw is there, accurate and long...it's all good!!!! I am no longer second guessing letting the D1 go.

This set up is awesome. The head looks perfect at address. Although not a deep faced driver, it inspires confidence in it's long and deep head shape. Sound and feel is great, typical Titleist.

Can't wait to get out on the weekend to give it another go!!!

I have been hitting the Comp all season and I love mine.. Its the best driver I have ever hit. I didn't think anything could bump the 905R I hit for two years but this has replaced it nicely. I love my Comp!

Glad the deal worked out great for you. Yes the 11,5 hits on a medium trajectory.

    I'm sorry I sold my D1

Good to hear about going to a higher loft. I played a 12 degree and bombed it. Now settled to 10.5

We should all not let our egos get in the way of the number on the bottom of the club.
