    Leaking Window??

    Hello Guys,

I noticed today during the storm that one of our windows is leaking quite a bit. Can anyone recommend how we should address this or any company that we could contact? I have no idea how much this is going to cost and would rather not spend a fortune. The window is roughly 1.5 feet by 5 feet.

    Any suggestions?

Check your caulking outside.... I had one leak and when I got the ladder out to look at it the caulking, it was essentially gone from the sun beating down on it... scraped off what was left of the old stuff, layed on a new layer and voila, leak fixed.

I can help but I need to know what type of leaking you have. When you say leaking do you mean that water is coming in through the window? Through the glass portion or the vinyl? Do you mean leaking as in there is water inside the glass?

While I agree that the caulking may be the culprit it is also possible that the exterior weather stripping has come loose or developed a hole.

If you cannot diagnose the issue let me know what area you are in and I can recommend a very good window repair company.

    Hey Jason,

I took a closer look at the window this weekend. The leaking seemed to come through the moulding that is around the window. I have noticed a small gap between the moulding and the frame(inside). Outside I looked at the top of the window and did not want to start removing siding to see where the leak was. I think I would need a window guy to come by and take a look and give an estimate. Would you be able to do that type of thing?

    Justin
