I noticed the new awning there on Saturday. Also, the MGD was I think $22 for 24, and my heineken was $28 for $24.

Whats with the bud light lime craze? I bought a couple cases on a recommendation from a friend, it was better than I expected (expectations were fairly low) but now apparently its in extreemly short supply. There was a gal at the king of beer who drove up from KINGSTON for some.

    Donny,

Global had a little feature about The King of Beer at 5:55 today. They were mentioning how it was illegal to transport beer across the border.

I wonder if it was you coming out of there with 5 case of Stella on a little tralley...

Keep some for the long week-end of August.

Would the Beer King be open tomorrow seeing as how it doubles as a convenience store? And Sak, are you saying BL w/ Lime is available across the river?

I would be surprise as it is brewed in UK (clear bottle) and they don't expect any until September. They will be coming out with BL Lime in cans in 2 weeks... brewed in the US.

The bud light lime is okay, i was actually surprised about how much lime taste there actually was. If you can't make it to the King, buy some President Choice Cerveza. I bought 48 the other day, been serving it steady, everyone LOVES it.

It is actually not illegal if you are doing it for personal use, at least thats what my research has told me.

In Canada alcohol is a provincial responsibility and it is illegal to bring liquor across provincial borders. Of course, enforcing that law is pretty much impossible. Nevertheless the laws exist.

Our Beer Store in town sometime refuse to take in cans or bottles from Quebec...

Not that the reply is helping you much now, but yes, the King was open yesterday. I needed to reload, and we were on our way to the IMAX. There was no BLlime left, and they were selling the last of it on my last trip there for $47 per 24, when a week earlier it was $29. Supply & demand I guess. To be honest, the King is great, and its a bit of an experience going in there, but there are equally good prices at many other places that are easier to get in & out of than the King. Depanneur Proprio just down the street from the king is a major competitor, and the store is newer and much easier to get around.
I always found it hilarious (but mildly frustrating) straining to hold 3 24 packs of beer standing in line behind an 8 year old counting out how many gummy worms he could get for a loonie.

The loss of the church is very sad.
Also Donny, when making the bootleg run to the King, you must stop at Patate Lou-Lou. Its a chip stand right in front of the church, they sell a mean club sandwich & fries for $6.50. Its an Aylmer institution.

Sorry man, this is not necessarily correct. While it is common practice for British beers to use clear bottles, it does not exclude local companies from using them. Sleeman uses clear bottles on a number of their products, and they are brewed in Guelph.

Where did you see that BL Lime is brewed in the UK? I would find this hard to believe considering Bud is an American institution for over 100 years. (and no I'm not a Bud fan, just saying).

I question the validity of the statements made in that article, stating they can't make beer in clear bottles in Canada is obviously not correct, since it is already being done not only by Sleemans, but a few micro breweries do it as well.

Now I know that Labatt has been helping Busweiser since at least 1998 in getting some Canadian market share, but something seems very off about the way this is being handled.

Anyways, I'm not a bud fan at all, but for some reason Bud Light with Lime is fantastic. It's a great summer beer, and for those who drink Corona / Sol, I think you'll like BLL.

    Cheers,

Keep in mind that I ran the article through Google Translate first, but I believe it only states that Labatt has no right to bottle beer in bottles that are not brown, it makes no mention of other breweries not being able to do so. Seems odd that a Labatt VP would make that statement, basically conceding the fact that they won't be able to meet customer demand in the short-term, unless it's a true or there are other legal issues that are keeping them from doing so.

Is it possible that micro breweries have different rules or laws?

I prefer brown bottles anyway so light doesn't penetrate and skunk the beer.

Gatineau Costco has really won my beer business. | haven't been to Gravelles in over a year. I'm not in Aylmer as much, eithher. So Donny, you're going to say "the trunk is so spacious, it can hold over 300 beers?"

Yep, that's it! The tint, the possible of tricking it out, the major space, the bose system, this thing is screaming for a young owner.

PS. my beer business is just the beer store. King cans of Stella at the beer store and I return the cans in Hull. 2.60 a can less .20 for my returns, that's 2.40 a beer so that's less then .50/100ml.

Anyone ever try to call Costco to get the rundown on what they're stocking for beer? It always seems to be different when I go in. They need a twitter account.
