Golf in NC in August?

We are thinking about a week vacation in the Myrtle Beach area in the middle of August. Golf and the beach. However, is it too hot to golf in NC in August? Opinions?

I've done Myrtle Beach and VA Beach in the summer and it's f-in hot... Never went for golf, but I'm not sure I'd do it unless it was dirt cheap.

I hate golfing in killer heat.

Don't know, never been in the heat of summer. But if it is like 78 degrees in April, I'd not want to play, cart or not. Heard it is high humidity also. In speaking with some of the locals, it is usually only people from "away" that play, too hot for the locals.

I have played in Tennessee in Aug. We started at 7 am at 29 deg c. I had 10 lemonades and I didn't need any rest room stops at all. It was 37deg by noon. Humid too. They had industrial fans around the greens to keep them alive. Too hot really.

LOL one of the locals advised me aginst goning into the fescue to hunt for my ball. I asked why and he just said `Snakes`He made a face like he had just bit a lemon.
