    Road Trip

I get asked this a lot, so...

What weekend road trip worthy courses are there, outside of the coverage of this site? Something that a group would drive 2-4 hours and stay for the night. To be stuck in a car with four full size men for three hours, it would have to be something special to be worth it. :p

Ok, the most obvious one is Tremblant. Other suggestions?

Malone Golf Club in NY is good, with two golf courses and a number of weekend deals with local motels that take Canadian money at par. I've gone there a couple of times and had a blast.

Gray Rocks is incredible. It may be 5 minutes from Tremblant, but its not Tremblant.

La Bette is the best course i have played on and the #2 hole is the wildest hole i have ever seen. I think the price is $65.00 including cart.

La Belle is awesome also, great scenery and great course. Think the price is $45.00.

I was in the Gray rocks golf acadamy so golfing these 2 courses was part of the course, so i may be a little off on the price.

Also, Lake Placid has some very, very nice looking golf courses, 3 hours away and plently of places to stay.
We actually travelled about 15 minutes past lake placid to a camping ground and rented a small cabin. Very cost efficent, think it was around $90.00 for 2 nights. Beats the hotel prices, and you have a fire pit, small deck, all nature around you, rapids, not to mention the free mini-put 30 seconds away!!

Actually me and my father are going to Malone and Lake Placid in a week and a half for a two night golf vacation....We are not using a hotel package because the golfers gold pass we bought for $30 has two, 2 for 1's for both Malone and Lake Placid....Basically you drive down and play at Malone that day, get a cheap motel, play 2 rounds at Lake Placid the next day, stay overnight, then play Malone again on your way back to Ottawa.....Each course has 36 holes so your playing different tracks....The Lake Placid Links course is a top notch course and from the back tees I believe it's roughly 7000 yards and well conditioned and the Mountain course is also good although it is only 6100 yards I believe, although the beauty of the holes make up for that greatly and the mountains are superb backdrops....This is the 3rd straight year we'll be doing this and it's a great time with the village of Lake Placid being such a beautiful and cozy place to stay in the Adirondack Mountains.

doesnt count on your card..nice way to warm up.
then they have a 800 some yard par 6..
an island green par 3..one water, one all sand
a par 3 played over a waterfall, and a par 3 played on a copy of fenway park..tee box is behind
home plate..green in left field..course is in great shape, folks are friendly, and its fairly cheap..
there is the gaunlet at curtis park....nice course
build around a man made lake
anyway lots more and its only a days drive, so it
    feels like a vacation..

Do they have a hole that plays through a windmill or one where you have to putt into a clowns mouth?

thats what i thought the first time i played
there...the gentleman that owns the course copied
some of his favorite holes..the island par 3 is
from tpc sawgrass for example..the course sounds
gimmicky but its a really nice course..its actually located in locust grove va..you can find
it on the web if u browse va courses..oh ya..no
clowns mouth, but u play around a civil war
    cemetary...

    Calabogie!
Went there this week and loved it. 1 hour from Ottawa.
The rooms were spectacular with a HUGE jacuzzi and views of the golf course from the balcony.
My room was located at the #1 tee so i just sat on my balcony and watched everyone tee off.
The putting and chipping green was a 10 second walk ( 10pm i was out putting).
20% off green fees if you stay at the resort, also they have a pool and the hole 9 yards.

The first 9 holes were fun, but the last 9 holes were some of the most breath taking i have played. I can't wait to go back for the last 9 holes, amazing!
