    Spineless shaft

Someone asked me. What is a spineless ahft. well without going into too many details check the following. That video shows a club well oriented. A spineless shaft will behave the same way no matter where you orient it.

    spineless

And here is how a shaft with a spine or not oriented behaves when clamped.

As I'm sure you're aware, this topic has been debated ad nausea over at TWGT and probably other places as well. Interesting opinions out there.

Flat Line Oscillation versus Neutral Bend Point?
Which way to orient the plane in the golf club?
How far out are shafts these days?
Does this make a measureable difference in the way people score?
Lot's and lot's and lot's of different opinions.

I do it, only because I've made myself a jig, it's quick, easy. I find the graphics often are very close on graphite shafts. I orient the shaft to combat toe droop.

Back to your original post... I've come across shafts that were very difficult to discern a stiff/soft plane, meaning it was probably close to a spineless shaft.

Was not trying to start a debate.

Will it change shaft flex if there is a spine?
Yes. The other day someone came by my place and asked for a shaft pull. While we were at it we measured the frequency in different planes. There was a 12 cpm difference between the soft and hard plane.Which means that you could have 2 clubs of the same make and same flex feeling and playing different.

I have my beliefs on the rest of the stuff but do not want to get into it.
