Best course in orlando area
Hi there,
I'm heading to Orlando for a.... work trip.... but well.... golf might happen. that being said, does anyone have a "gem" of a course that I might play that won't set me back 200.00 US.
Thanks

Orange County National - 2 excellent courses - they use them for Q school qualifying. One of the best practice facilities/ranges I have ever seen. I have played a dozen courses in the Orlando area and these are my favorites.
Not sure about pricing - if its expensive, try the twilight rate.
Good luck.

Thanks a bunch. I'll go online and see if I can get their regular and twilight rates.

Champion's Gate - Onmi Hotel
Played the above while on a business trip last fall. It was the PGA Father/Son tounament setting which was happening the week after I was there. There are two courses at the Omni Hotel - Champions Gate and I recall the cost was around $100 but I'm not sure if you had to be staying at the hotel for that rate.
It also had a lit par-three course that was short but still fun.

I played one a few years ago, Winterport or Winter Pines something like that. Gorgeous orange-tree lined course, nice & soft. Was like 26.00$ US with cart, and water. Had great hot dogs at the turn too! Its right in Orlando not far from Windermere.
Lots of yoga pants these days, not enough Yoga!

Here's another recommendation for Orange County National. I only played Panther Lake but it's one of the best courses I've ever played.

Orlando
Orange county is a good facilility for sure and they normally run some sort of deal, when we were there we got lunch, drinks including beers and a sleeve of balls in the cost. Others that I really enjoyed were Southern Dunes(bit of a drive to Haines City), Grand Pines (greens were fastest I've ever played) and Grande Cypress was also fabulous but costly. One course I would not play again was Harmony.

Southern Dunes. Played four times last time I went, amazing course!

i am in orlando right now (+34 today) and no time to golf. Damn this work thing!
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

we rent a house on Southern Dunes every winter, its an amazing course and the practise facils are also great, easy to get to as well, as for value, cant beat sun air gc, 16$ cart and golf!

Have to agree with you on the Champions Gate
Do feel that Orange County National which offers up two top drawer courses (crooked cat, and Panther Lakes) is a must play if you have the chance and time
followed up with some cold pints at the Orlando Ale House
Have a good trip
