I just read this story too. He did have a rocky time of it with Clouston down the stretch. Lets hope its not true, although we may be able to get a Bowmeester for that price!

I see this as a good opportunity. Unfortunate to lose a player like Heatley, but the cap space it would give could be very useful. I would think the best way to use this pick wouldn't be to pick up another marquis name (unless it's someone like Lecavelier), but to use it to add scoring depth. Sure, picking up another 80-90 point scorer would be great, but there aren't many of those around. If we could nab a couple of solid second line players who can produce consistent points, that would be a huge addition to what is essentially a one line team.

good luck dealing him, 5 years left at 7.5 mil a year, no way wihtthe cap set to go down after this coming season.
only way it will work is if the sens take back a high priced player with lots of term left, and who is there that is comparable? no one

I guess we now know why Murray is already on record saying that Spezza won't be traded..........and WTF is wrong with Heatly anyway. Things get a little less than comfortable for him and he wants out. Klouston was for the coach for what 20 games???

You know what they say...
When the going gets tough, the tough get going... and those who can't step their game up and put their ego aside are destined to have their arse shipped to Long Island.
If Heatley really doesn't want to be here, then Murray should grant him that wish. Sometimes addition by subtraction, regardless of who you get in return, is positive.

That's hilarious!!! I've always found that this scene was great acting by Bruno Ganz (Der Untergang) but now, it's even better...

I heard today that he is not even returning calls to teamates, including the captain. All those who said we should give him a break should now realise that he is in over his head and has no idea of what to do. Alfie did say that he would be welcomed back to the dressing room easier than be accepted by the fans and media.

If Heatley comes back and plays well and acts as a member of the team, (and the team wins) I don't think it will take long for the fans to forget. Any miscue by the team if Heatley is playing and the fans will be all over him all year.

He has to go as there is no way he will ever give 100% to this organization if his heart is not into it. Trade him as soon as possible. The Edmonton trade would be gerat for both teams, let's make it happen Dany boy!

My thought....The fans can be upset at him all they want...but they should recall that Dany was a huge part in making the finals a few years ago....How soon we forget....I guess Spezza is happy...No one is ripping him.....I hear there is a lot more to the story than what has come out....If what I have been told is even close to the truth....not one GUY I know would act any different than what Dany has.... I hope it all works out for him...and wish there was a way he would end up in Boston...
Cheers,
Dave

maybe, maybe not. perhaps if we knew the real reason we could make that decision for ourselves. until now, we go on the info we have. the rest is just heresay. if there is another reason, it should be brought to light by heatley, since it will be eventually.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Really, he could not have handled it any other way? I find it difficult to understand his approach in any way. Murray is a very compassionate guy, if Heatly had an issue he should have come forth with it and it would have helped all the parties involved. He has handled it badly and to give him the benefit of the doubt on speculation is really getting tired. We know what we know, we can change our minds if anything else comes out, until then he has screwed up.

when you publicly demand a trade like that for whatever reason you really screw yourself over. why don't these superstars realize that. I know they didn't really do anything in highschool and most of them don't go to university so I don't blame them for being idiots but even a rat in a maze knows not to go left if it gets shocked enough times. Hockey players (except joey juno) are idiots
