    What's My Score

    From The Leith Society website.

Open to anyone including those with rules certification.

Straightaway Par 4 with water all the way down the left side and in front of the tee.

Player hits his first ball into the water directly in front of the tee.

Goes to the end of the tee box, drops a ball and hits his next shot in the fairway.

He then pulls the next shot into the hazard, short and left of the green. There is an old drop zone that has been crossed out and not in play and a new one next to it that has been marked with a white circle. He drops a ball into the wrong drop zone and plays his next shot on to the putting green. His fellow competitor points out his error and tells him that he must play the next stroke from the correct drop zone. He walks up to his ball on the putting green picks it up and throws it in the water.

He then goes to his golf bag for another ball, throws it into the correct drop zone and pitches on to the putting green. He two putts.

What is his score for the hole and what penalties for what rules infractions did he make?

    3 strokes so far.

4th stroke into the water, 5th stroke to get out of it.

No penalty for dropping in the wrong spot but there is one for playing from the wrong spot but I wouldn't say it was a 'serious breach'. 6th stroke was his shot from the wrong drop zone and then 2 penalty strokes for playing from the wrong place. We're up to 8 strokes.

This is getting ridiculous... and beyond my ability to Google. I'm guessing now. There's gotta be a 2-stroke penalty for picking up the golf ball. Probably 2 more for 'losing' the ball in the water. Strokes so far = 12.

2 more strokes for hitting the ball after an improper drop. 1 for the pitch shot and 2 for the putts.

Is this even too complicated for our rules gurus?

I want to see some more attempts or at least post the answer

When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

No penalty for incorrect drop in correct dropzone , was a red herring as he was never required to go drop a ball there

    That makes 14 .....

About as good as I can figure on a Sunday morning

BC, Lobwedge, Dan or gbower, I don't want to wait four months for my answer on Lobwedge's "whats my score" thread. Is kiwibattler right? 14? Thats what I'm coming up with.
