The Red Wings
Awesome article in this week's Sports Illustrated about their scouting back in 1989 which turned the franchise around. Great read!!! Couldn't believe that Lidstrom (best defenseman of all time imo) was drafted way back then!!!!

They went through some dark times in the 70's and 80's for sure, and as much as I'm not a Wings fan, they're the best thing that city has going right now.
BTW - as good as Lidstrom is, Bobby Orr's still better. When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Many have annointed the Wings as this year's inevitable Stanley Cup winners. It may well be that that they will succeed. That said, it is equally obvious from last night's game that the Penguins are not willing to concede the cup to the boys from the Motor City. I cannot imagine that both teams can continue playing with that kind of intensity. If they do, the fans will be well served. Fantastic hockey!
