Golf and Spa Packages
Looking for a place somewhat local to bring my girlfriend for her birthday. It would have to be a place where a new golfer can enjoy their round (she only started last year) and it would be nice if it had a decent spa as well (maybe as I play another 18). Let me know what is in the area and of any personal experiences you have had. Thanks in advance for the help.

Calabogie has a nice golf course and spa. They may have packages but I'm not sure.

I assume you mean a golf+hotel+spa package - just a golf+spa package is going to be tough to find.
I would suggest Montebello:

If you want something closer to town, I believe the Wakefield Inn has a spa and offers golf packages at Edelweiss.

I guess it depends on budget and your definition of "nice".
Marshes is local, Montebello, and Tremblant not as local.

It's a bit further, but I'd recommend the Manoir Richelieu about an hour east of Quebec City. The Charlevoix region is spectacular, as is the setting of the hotel and golf course.

I'd not recommend Calabogie. The course is nice (although might not be newby-friendly), but I've had some bad experiences with their hotel.
Montebello is spectacular, but pricy. The course might not be the best thing for a newby, but very beautiful. There's also Heritage golf about 20 min. away. If you can foot the bill, this would probably be your best bet. Approximately 1.5h drive from Ottawa.
Chateau Cartier is a nice and open course, but it's practically in the city, so not very romantic.

Actually Alex, I think Montebello is less intimidating than Heritage for a woman. There are quite a few forced carries over gullies and ravines at Heritage, whereas most of the trouble at Montebello is left or right of the fairways. One of my female colleagues at the office (who is a fairly decent golfer) can't stand Heritage for that reason.

Mont Pellier has a decent set-up---check the "L'Auberge" The course has Spring specials to the 21st June.
Does the 2nd hole-n-one come easier ?

Turning Stone, East of Syracuse. They have 3 championship courses, a shorter 9-holer, and a 9 hole par-3 course.
