The Art of Sound - raison d'etre for creating a sound slot.
In his article, http://www.mygolfspy.com/putters-the-art-of-sound, Scotty Cameron provided (and genesis of Newport Beach putter) background and research on sound slots and cite factors that affect the pitch or sound of a putter.
Recently I've acquired a used SS Newport 2 putter (thanks to Dave) with a sound slot and face milling customised by http://www.putterplating.com/services.html, a very good and reliable club refinisher and sound slot specialist.
The putter has a traditional look with the sound slot cut into the flange. At my usual address I see only a clean profile of my Scotty.
My desire or notion for having a sound slot is to have a distinct and unique sound that translates or go together with the feel that will resonates
('cha ching' ) and leave an imprint whenever I made my constant 'best' or desired putt.
As a true leftie , this recent putter acquisition dovetailed with my newfound desire to change my putting style ala Padraig Harrington.
My posting here is to solicit and to receive feedback from those who have gone over the 'dark side' and sound slutting I mean slotting.Golf is the Total System Integration of............The Sum of All Parts............

I have solid copper Byron Morgan putters, one with a sound slot and one without. For me personally, the copper is pretty soft and the sound slot makes it too soft. The noise is nice, but it is impossible to hit putts longer than about 30 feet with the beached putter. (This is a going concern for me on many greens...)
