Niagara Falls Golf
I just got back from a little Niagara Falls Golf trip with Bigdoggy and I have to say that they have some really nice tracks down there
On Saturday we played The Legends on the Niagara Ussher's Creek Course in the wind and rain and I have to say that this Thomas McBroom (McBroom also designed Crowbush Cove on PEI) course is one of the best that I've played in a long time - I would HIGHLY recommend this course to anyone thinking of going down that way, its sister course Battlefield is equally stunning - can't go wrong with either one.
On Sunday we played the much hyped Thunder Waters course and I have to say that I was greatly underwhelmed The locals that I spoke with were saying that the course is having some financial issues and as a result they made some significant changes to the course to accommodate a bunch of condos that they want to build. Point in case would be #1 which was originally a long par 4 that they reduced to a small litte 260 yard hole which is easily driveable, but the Marshalls were STRONGLY encouraging everyone to lay up to the creek which cuts in front of the hole because with everyone going for it and missing it tends to put them way off schedule. Another shame was #10 which was originally a long par 5 reduced a par 3. But the absolute funniest hole is #6 which one the card is 103 yards but, at least when we were there, played to 72 yards . This coupled with the map that was needed to find your way from the green to the next tee really put me off of this course
On Monday we played Stanley Thompson designed Whirlpool course This parkland course really reminded me of Mill River on PEI (where Big Break PEI is being played) minus all of the water. This parkland style course really puts a premium on accuracy off of the tee and is a really nice track - I will play this again when we return.
Overall the courses were great, the company was great and even though I seemed to forget to pack my game golf in the Niagara region is outstanding

Sounds like a great time Scott. We are heading there in September for another nerd convention, hopefully the weather cooperates this time. Last year it poured rain both days, got lightning-ed off Battlefields after 2 holes (really liked those two holes...) then played Ushers Creek from the tips in the pouring rain. Was not my best day! Really liked the course though, can't wait to play it again.

I'm surprised that no one has figured out a way to incorporate the Falls in a hole design. Had they placed a tee off area in my room, I'm sure I could have driven a ball into the States. Not a chance, not even with Daly's length!
