I was suffering from this just a little while ago. El Tigre was pretty close (in terms of why I was hookin' alot). My problem was that I was that I was sliding my hips in the down swing, so that I was coming in from the inside too much, so I suffered from pushes, or hooks (if my hands got too overactive to try and compensate). Try to restrict the sliding of your hips, and that might help.
