New!
Hello members of the Ottawa Golf forums!
I plan to begin playing golf soon, but my parents are sort of against this idea until next year (main problem is transportation, as my parents work for most of the day). Any advice on what to do to convince them to let me play?
Also, any advice on what to do/where to go starting off? I live in the new Barrhaven area (close to Farmboy).
Thanks in advance! From what I've read, this forum seems like a very friendly community

You might also mention to your parents that quite apart from the character building benefits of the game itself, many successful people enjoy playing golf. Rubbing elbows with the the likes of Indio and Hoolio can only help you in the long run. I'm kidding, of course. They are fine gentlemen. The fact is that of all sports, golfers generally tend to demonstrate positive character traits. I believe that the game itself has a way of reinforcing the development of positive character and social traits. You will be a better person for having played the game.

Welcome.. Take up golf and lessons as early as you can.
Yesterday we saw several groups of youngsters likely having school tournament.
We were amazed at how polished their swings and tempo were. Another observation was how closely each group were standing at each fairway. This tells you about their shots dispersion. Unlike us old guys and self taught, the only time we see each other is at the tee box and at the green several minutes later.

Many clubs have Junior programs that are reasonably priced and you live close to several course that you could take the bus to; eg. Stonebridge, Cedar Glen.
If you should join one, I will contribute a good quality wedge to your bag.
Come on OG members, let's get this guy on the course.
