Everyone really sees Phaneuf making the team? He will have to play a lot better next year than he played this year.

Pronger is too much of a penalty risk in international hockey. Where a hit to the head brings a one game suspension. He won't be able to play the style of hockey that makes him most effective.

I’m willing to bet he makes the team unless he is injured. Him and Phaneuf on the same line!! Ouch.

I think you're right that he probably will make it. But he wouldn't if I was in charge.

What about Chris Mason?
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

I remember Pronger being a liability at the last Olympics. Regardless he will probably make the team.

Although I think Cam Ward has played well enough to deserve being on this team, I feel that either Price or Mason will get the nod as the #3 goalie. Seeing as #3 will likely not see any ice time, i think they might be looking to 2014 and give a kid the 'experience' of being in the Olympic atmosphere, as 2014 may include Luongo, but certainly not Brodeur.
Being a Thunder Bay boy I would love to see all 3 Staal's on the team! I think Eric and Marc should make it and perhaps Jordan can be on the "NEW" checking line with Richards & Carter?

You don't think Ward will still be around in 2014? He's still really young. This is only his 3rd year in the league, and at 25, he should be around for 2014 and 2018

I don’t think Price will be a candidate this time around. His confidence is shattered like Fleury was at his NHL depute. The first half of next season will be a big factor but I think Ward or Mason will considered before price. Don’t forget about Fleury especially if Pits make it to the final 4 or 2 teams this post season. Two straight years to the cup would be something to consider. Post season performance is very important for this selection camp.
That being said the third goalie will probably not see any ice time with the top 2 on their list.Strive for perfection, but never expect it!

agreed. Price was a sieve in the boston series. I don't see him being close at this point. It's between Mason and Ward.

That I don’t agree. Most goals were not his fault. Everyone is asking of him to be a god in MTL. Lots of his goals were defensive giveaways and turnovers in dangerous areas. He is not to blame BUT what I did see in him is ease of discouragement. He abandons too easily after a goal or two, shakes his head at every goal and his body language said it all. His head is very screwed up right now and there are two many good young CDN goalies for him to be considered this time around. This all depends on the first half of next year obviously but I don't see it happening with all the changes in line in the HABS line up.
As for the third wheel being there this time around for 2014, Luongo will still be there at that time IF NHL players are eligible in 2014.

Another player who will have to be considered is Stamkos. The way he's performing right now at the Worlds, they'll have to seriously consider him if he has a good start to next year.

I doubt Stamkos will be there. Remember, the Worlds are a watered down version of the Olympics. Definitely not the best of the best, like the Olympics would be. And in that case, I don't think Stamkos will even get an invite to camp. Canada is too deep with talent, and a lot of that talent is quite young. So they don't need to groom the really "young guns" this time around. But if Stamkos can translate his showing at the Worlds into the start of next season, then who knows.....But as of now, Stamkos won't be considered for the Olympics.
