    Question~!

I read this somewhere and I would like to know if its true.

When my ball goes into bunker and ball is in the footprint, I get a free drop out of the footprint. Is this true ?

    Thanks

    False.

The fact that rakes are provided for bunkers is simply a courtesy. One very famous course (Pine Valley) doesn't have rakes for their bunkers.

what if the group ahead did not rake the bunker and my ball goes in their footprint ? It sounds like unfair but .... rule is rule.... thank you ...may be i misunderstood

Bunkers are hazards. Don't hit your ball there.

It's like when they went to the "wide" rakes at a few tournaments.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't smooth your footprints/explosion mark after hitting.

I was being only halfway facetious.

They went to the wide rakes because some people (like Jack Nicklaus) were getting tired of the touring pros choosing to miss towards a bunker because they knew they would have a perfect lie and have a good chance of saving par.

    There's a reason they're called hazards Jeff.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

I here ya, but when I land in some dude's footpring I am not going to be happy. I know I know, don't hit it there, but you can bet if the PGA tour was playing there they would have rakes.
