    Vancouver Golf

I am going to Vancouver for a business trip next week. I have Monday Afternoon free for golf and am considering playing at the University Course...

    http://www.universitygolf.com/

as it is between the airport and hotel. Any comments or suggestions? (I may be able to fit another game in on Wednesday Afternoon before flying back Thursday.)

I haven't played the University Club in years, but it always gets pretty good reviews.

It might be a bit early for the courses on the North Shore to be open, but there are some other good courses in the Richmond area and the Vancouver Muni courses are not bad (McCleary comes to mind)

Thanks, They have 3 muni courses. McCleery, Fraserview, and Langara. Is McCleery the best? Which is the best Public course you've played in the region?

I've played the Falls (a great course, but it is out by Chilliwack which is a LONG way out from Vancouver) Furry Creek if it is open is great. I've heard Northlands is very good. Both tracks at Northview in Surrey are great (The Air Canada Classic was held there) Morgan's Creek in Surrey is also good. Westwood Plateau is good but $$$. Out of the Muni courses I have only played McCleery, so I can't tell you about the others. Fraserview and Langara were both redone by Thomas McBroom, so who knows. McCleery is also on the way to the Airport from downtown.

Oh and I've also played Meadow Gardens in Pitt Meadows and Swan E Set, both very nice courses, although there was construction of the new bridge happening at Meadow Gardens a couple of years ago, so I am not sure of how that is affecting the course.

    Thanks Colby;

I think I'll play the University when I get there and McCleery (if possible) before I come back.

Cool, make sure you call the courses in case of aeration...

    Thanks,

I'll let you know how they (and I) play. The weather looks great there! (At least till Tuesday)

I get to warm up on Sunday here at Dragonfly.

I've played Fraserview and it is a nice course. Its just off Marine Drive - it is on the way to the airport if you're coming from Burnaby or New Westminster.

Another nice course that is not too far from the airport is Mayfair Lakes in Richmond.

Played University last week Monday. It was a nice course but was still in early spring conditions with many dead spots. Played with some locals who said the course suffered with too much snow this winter. (It was half price so that was good, I think it was $30 for the round)

The views of the mountains were very impressive.

Lived in Vancouver for 12 years...
Played all the municipal courses, and Fraserview is the best of the three.
Havent played UBC...since its really expensive..
If you have time Point Roberts golf club is amazing...nothing like an eagle swooping around trying to take your ball..

We did have about five or six bald eagles soaring above us in the breeze. They ranged in altitude from 50 to several hundred feet. I was wondering what they were hunting. I wasn't in the greatest condition - bad chicken at the Calgary Airport- and thought they may have been following me waiting for me to collapse.
