Local - Affordable Lessons
I think I've decided to spend my usual equipment budget on lessons this year. I had reconstructive surgery on my shoulder in the off season and now along with fighting an over the top move and i am struggling to get my swing speed up.
Anyone recommend an affordable place to get lessons? I'm in barrhaven and work in napean so I'd like to avoid the east end of town if possible..
I took a couple of lessons last spring with Ross (something) at T-to-Green and might go back to him if I can't find someone else... Open to suggestions guys.
I guess I should mention I play to an 18 handicapScott - Golf...Fail.

I went to see Darryl Buchanan for lessons at Meadows last year - I took several lessons from and dropped from an 18 to a 12 to end the year. I found him to be easy-going and very knowledgeable. I'd recommend him if it's not too far east for you.
Good luck

I figured this thread would be better placed here. Had my first lesson with Marc today and we changed my grip, and a couple positions at address. I could already feel and see (because he tapes all his lessons on dvd) a difference right away. I'm looking forward to 4 more sessions with him. We'll see what happens with my scores!

Had my first lesson today and it was great!! The video analysis really helped. A little hard adjusting to a different set up but at least I have a pre-routine now. Looking forward to praticing on the range and my next lesson.

Sounds good Scott, sounds like he is taking a step by step approach. Cant wait to see the new set-up. I am sure you will benefit from it. Now your drives will be 300 or even better the same distance but always in the fairway. Good luck

It was interesting to see on video my old vs new setup. It will take some getting used to though. Looking forward to the range and working on it. It was nice to see the ball on the simulator being only 5 yards off line. Still a long way to go. But at least the forward press is going to be gone. Marc took the time to explain to me the whole swing process and through video I could understand and see the accomplishments with this new set up. At first the distance was low but gradually increased. I'm happy that I went and can see myself purchasing another five lessons after this is done.

Nice Scott, sounds like you accomplished a lot in one lesson. Changing one's set-up is not easy and the fact that you managed to hit balls and get some distance back is very encouraging. I think that the new set up will help you with the game inside 120 yds more than anything. Your old set-up made you prone to fat shots. I think I may go see this guru myself to stop that dreaded pull.

Just got back in from playing 9 practice holes at Raceview.. and the first 3 holes were rouuuuuugh... learning a new swing can be a little frustrating. After a few 'putter throws' I started to find a rythem and actually strung together 4 pars. shot a 48 though (ya... +13 on 5 holes..ouch)
I can see my distance is creeping back in.. 7 iron was hovering around 150yds today.. even with the strong wind that seemed to always be in my face today.
playing again monday... then another lesson next wednesday... the saga continues.Scott - Golf...Fail.

Played my first game after my first lesson this week and was very happy with the results. The driver was fairly straight except for a couple of shanks, the irons were very straight compared to before...the chipping and putting, that's another story. Hopefully we can incorporate that into some lessons very soon.
