Ryan to Roam Fairways at Augusta National
For those who may not have already read this in a certain regional publication, Ottawa's Dean Ryan has been invited to represent the RCGA at one of the world's most prestigious and exclusive tournaments, The Masters. He will be among the game's rules elite assigned to maintain "law & order" among the Dogwoods and Azaleas of Augusta National, a few weeks hence.
Dean is a Governor and Level 4 rules official with the RCGA, and holds a Directorship on the OVGA Board of Governors. His recent tournament assignments include Chairman at last year's CN Women's Open, and policing the fairways at the PGA Tour Championship.
Congratulations Dean on your monumental achievement! When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

Not only is Dean one of Canada's most knowledgeable rules officials and well deserving of his assignment to officiate at Augusta, he is also very helpful and an extremely positive and pleasant person to be around.
Dean was the referee at the Alexander of Tunis tournament last July at the Royal and I am sure that Gerry would agree, that we both learned more from Dean over those two days, about how to conduct ourselves as rules officials and how a tournament should be organized, than from all other sources combined.
Let's hope we see him on TV like we did last year at the Canadian Open when he gave Anthony Kim a ruling when Kim was in a bunker.

What I really want to know is if he'll get some playing priveledges once the tournament is finished.
Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!

As BC mentioned, it was a pleasure working with Dean and learning from one of the best. When you see how things are done at the higher levels and can learn from that it's great. Best to Dean at working at the Masters. This should be a great experience.
