    Question replacing steel shafts

I have a set of Taylor Made 300 Forged irons with Precision Rifle Flighted 6.0 steel shafts. I find them a little too stiff as I am hitting them about a half club shorter then my previous clubs (which had a regular flex shaft in them). I purchased some Precision Rifle 5.0 steel shafts online and I was planning to make the switch to these. However, I didn't realize when I bought them that there was a difference between tapered and parallel tipped shafts. The new shafts I have bought are parallel tip and I am pretty sure that my TM 300's are tapered.

I was told that you can still put a parallel tip into a tapered tip club head by doing just a little bit of drilling. Has anyone done this before? Is the drilling likely to affect the structural integrity of the golf club? I don't plan on doing this myself, but I just wanted to get an opinion before I take it into a store to get it done.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hollywood. BC Mist will do an excellent job at a very decent price. He's done for a friend of mine and actually saw him do it right in front in my own eyes. It did not take him more than ten minutes. This being said here are the required tools to do the job properly:

1)Drill press. You could get away using a regular drill but that's risky business.
    2)clubhead reaming vise. http://www.customclubshop.com/accessories.htm
    3) .370 HSS Reamer http://www.golfsmith.com/ppage.php?s...&cseq=~C276925

Then you are in business my man.

"I was told that you can still put a parallel tip into a tapered tip club head by doing just a little bit of drilling."

With all due respect to the skills and knowledge of those who have already responded, I personally would never drill out a set of OEM irons to install parallel tip shafts in a set of taper tipped heads just because I happened to have a set of parallel shafts available.
What I would do is sell or trade the parallels and get a set of tapers. It would save you the drilling costs and I think retain a better resale value for the set. Again, just my personal opinion.

    Thanks for the info guys!

BCMist and I have been in contact via PM's. His cost seemed very reasonable to me.

    Cheers,
