Talking Timber Ridge or Trillium Wood?

Driving through Belleville/Kingston next weekend and was wondering which track would be more worthwhile playing the Saturday morning after a Senators game 5 win...

Since I know nothing about either, take your pick.
But if you play Trillium Wood, let us know what it's like as we have a 36 hole golf tourny there in July . We could use any advance knowledge about the course.

I've never played Timber Ridge but I've played Trillium Wood about 5-6 times in past 4 years.

Trillium Wood is a course that will challenge all levels of golfers. It's got some very difficult holes (4, 5 and 6) yet it still has holes where you can rack up birdies (pretty much any par 5 except #6 - play it safe on that hole, it's ridiculously narrow where hitting driver off the tee is sometimes not the best option!). I found the conditions there to always be top-notch. It's well worth the drive. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

    My favorite holes are:
#4: tough par 4 where you need a 230+ drive from the whites and a 260+ drive from the blues to have a chance to hit the green in regulation
#5: par 3 with elevated (blind) green where keeping it short of the green is better than long. When in doubt between 2 clubs, hit the shortest one. Over the green is big trouble!!!
#10: challenging short downhill par 4 - keep the driver in the bag!
#17: 400+ yd par 4 always into the wind with a green not too receptive

Par on any of those holes is an excellent score!

Its a great course...only complaint: the beer cart didn't show up too often...but a tourney, you shouldn't have that problem.

    Timber Ridge

I've played Trillium 4-5 times and Timber Ridge about 10 times. They are both good tracks, but IMO Timber Ridge is more fun. Trillium may be better conditioned this time of year. Timber Ridge is newer and to be honest I never played it this early so I cannot attest to spring conditions there. I do know that its a great course and well worth the money. It's one of those courses where every hole is memorable and unique. Some of the greens are downright evil. I'd say go with Timber Ridge.

Timber Ridge is a sweet course. Kind of links and parkland mixed into one course. If the greens are running fast you're in for a tough day on the greens. The nice thing is the course can play very easy or very difficult with different pin placements.

Do Timber Rdige you'll really enjoy it.

Timber Ridge hands down! It's one of the best courses this side of Toronto in my opinion. If you decide to come, more than likely you'll see me there! (I work in the Pro Shop).

Ok...so when does Timber Ridge open, what are the '08 rates and how far from Napanee? I'm moving there in May from the UK, so i'm getting a kind of 'to-do' list! Oh yeah, not sure when i'll get my own clubs over as everything is gonna be shipped together so i'll need to know if there are decent rental sets available. Any and all info appreciated.

    Liam,
Timber is aboiut a 30 minute drive from Napanee. Trillium is about 15 mintes. Can't go wrong at either place.

You can also use the Featured Courses pages here on this site rather than hunting for each course individually.

As far as I know, we're looking at a later start than normal at Timber. There's just too much snow on the course now to even be thinking of opening soon. Don't get me wrong, we've lost a ton of snow over the past few days, but it will be a later start to the season. We're looking anywhere between the 18th and 25th of April (weather permitting of course). Keep your fingers crossed everyone!

Have not played Trillium. I love Timber Ridge; diverse elevations, tough greens, senic holes, resonable price. Usually play on my way to and from Toronto.
