    Putter length adjustment?

    Hi,
I am looking into getting custom fitted into a putter this spring.
Most likely I will go to Artisan golf.
From his website I see that he deals in YES and KZG putters.

If I bring my own (get lucky and buy a used Scotty on this forum) do I need to worry about length OR will Don just adjust it anyway?
I posted asking for 35" scotty in the classifieds but maybe any size will do as Don would just adjust it to me?

Since I don't know anything about this process I assume shortening a club is easier than adding length to it.
Is that true? Is one direction more likely to keep the 'feel' of the putter OR does changing the length not make much difference?

I went to Don at Artisan golf for a putter fitting 2 years ago and needed to have my putter shorten. Shortening the putter will make it feel lighter so Don counteracted this by adding lead powder in the shaft and also bent the lie of the putter.

    He did a great job

    Hi,

Has anyone had any experience the other direction.
If I bring a 32-33 inch and end up needing 34-35 inches does the putter lose some of its original 'feel'.

Whether you shorten or lengthen your putter, the original "feel" will change because the weight changes.

IMHO it is easier to shorten a putter - not only because it is easier to cut a shaft vs extend it but also because it is easier to add weight back to get close to the original feel. But you can always play around with the "feel" by adding lead to the bottom of the shaft, using different grips or adding lead tape under the grip - you might find something better than the original "feel".

Also keep in mind that most people who go for a putter fitting walk out with a shorter putter. Of course, YMMV.

I am curious about your 37.5 inch putter. Considering most golf fit will require to position your eyes over the ball and than grip. What is your wrist to floor distance while standing straight.
