Canada Post Shipping Costs!!!!
I remember once shipping a full set of irons to Quebec City for $27. Today I shipped one putter, putter only. No grip, no headcover in a box barely bigger than the putter. With the extra insurance coverage it cost me $37 to ship it to Manitoba. When did shipping prices go through the roof???? I'd ship other methods, but none of them are easily accessible from where I live.

I have found FedEx Ground to be the cheapest. You can estimate your packages at any of these sites canadapost.ca fedex.ca and put in dimensions and approximate weight and where its going and get an answer. There should be no surprises then.
I got a fever. And the only prescription is more golf equipment.

Good to know, but living out in Carp and working in the western most area of Kanata, there is no FedEx outlets close by. There is an UPS store in Centrum, but I don't find their rates all that good. Although they must be better than Canada Post's current rates.
Regardless, when the extras are all gone, if I really want to try anything else, I'll be sure to keep it local."A life lived in fear of the new and the untried is not a life lived to its fullest." M.Pare 10/09/08

I've shipped lots recently to and from T.O. using expresspost. I didn't find it very expensive. A full set of irons was $24. Don't ship anymore than expresspost. It always seems to arrive in the same amount of time no matter how you ship.

Ahhh, Xpresspost. What did you expect? Xpresspost has never been cheap, regular parcel is cheap and gets there almost as quickly. Fedex ground is the cheapest and the quickest. I sent a putter to Wasaga Beach last week by fedex ground, it was $8 and change and got there next day.

You are absolutely right Geoff. As you know I always ship my stuff (living up North) but since about November I found the prices to be ridiculous.
I thought that Canada Post had a gold mine with all of the trading being done everywhere... but not to worry the gvm't will find a way to scr*w it up...If you think it's hard to meet new people, try picking up the wrong golf ball.

There is a Fedex in Kanata on Hazeldean. Fedex ground is the way to go.

I exclusively use fedex ground. It is the cheapest and is reliable and has tracking for proof of delivery. I have to travel to one of only two spots in the GTA, i am guessing in ottaway there is likely only one, they are usually by the airport.
The rates are 2/3rds or one half of cda post. Even regular parcel cda post has gone up a ton, not just expresspost.
Suprisingly UPS is usually a bit less than cda post, but marginally, fedex is hands down worth the trouble."Chicks dig me, because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual"

What were the dimensions of your box? If I'm shipping a putter, I try to have the box no more than 37" long and 5"x5" width and height. Longer and wider makes the package have a higher 'dimensional' weight and gets expensive quickly.

Cost is not the only issue with Canada Post. Waiting for a set of shafts from Newfoundland - shipped on February 21; checked the tracking just now - they're still in Dieppe, NB!

G,
CP implemented an "oversized package" charge a while back. Basically anything bigger than 36" is tagged with $10 extra. Brutal, but a sign of the times.
Fedex is the way to go for oversized. I can ship a 45" driver or a set of irons for $20 anywhere in Canada and it takes 4 days max. That's with insurance.
But, I'm still always getting nailed for having an "oversized package"....
