A big hello from the home of golf
A wee introduction from the big man. I come from Edinburgh which is in Scotland and as you all know we gave the great game of golf to the world. I accidentaly found this forum when i was searching for links to the new Taylor made r9, I've had a look through some of the threads and there is a lot of excellent information to found. I hope i can add a small bit of my limited knowledge about the beautiful game to this forum

Welcome to the forum John! Wait about 2 weeks after the R9 is released and you will probably see one or two for sale in here

No John we did not play the Old Course. As we were renting clubs as well etc we didn't want to break the bank. We did walk out to the bridge etc. I had never heard about the law in Scotland about all lands being public---I couldn't believe how polite the players were as we were taking pictures during their game. As I said we did play Strathtyme-which is next door-----the grass was the same---the rough was the same---same deep pot bunkers---and the wind blew just as hard An enjoyable time was had

Hello there, and welcome
Edinburgh is lovely. I have relatives there. My nephew, Tim grew up playing golf there. He is about a 2 index at the moment I think.
The courses are very different to here. Have you played over here at all?

Hi John,
Yes I've done my homework on tee times. As a single, there is no way to pre-book a time, but it is possible to show up at the starter's hut at 5:30am and get on at some point during the day. I will try it each morning for 5 days, so I figure I should be able to get on a couple of times at least. I also plan to play the other courses on the days I don't get on, or in the afternoons as my second round of the day. I am thinking about heading down to Kingsbarns for a round as well, I hear its pretty special. I sent you a PM, so we can take this discussion off-line, since I don't want to bore the others.
Joe
