Is he right or is he a chicken
A friend of mine has to give me 4 strokes in our next match but won't give me strokes if we play at irish hills because he says its my HOME COURSE. I'm a corp golf member so I guess tech I'm a member everywhere lol. Anyway, he says he won't give me strokes there because I played my best round of the year there :S I have played that course more than any other this year... about 10 of my 50 rounds. Does he have a point or is he being a girlie man?

If he won't play a handicap game with the proper handicap, just play for fun.

What the sandbagger, not naming any names (sillywilly), is leaving out is that his index is currently 18.2 but earlier this year he shot a 76 at this course. Why am I giving him any strokes at any courses?
Even I've never heard of me

One good round does not invalidate someoe's handicap.
"Adjusting" because of a good round has already been handled by the handicapping system. Either use the system or don't. If you want to play straight up do so.Life dinnae come wit gimmies so yuv got nae chance o' gitt'n any from me.

Besides he can be easily beaten even with strokes. I have done it a few times.

The only girlies are those who require strokes
Play it straight up and earn your victory... particularly on your home course...
If you MUST have strokes, at least play on a neutral course. The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

adam is a 14.8
depe is an 18.2
I've had 3-5 really bad rounds where I didn't even bother finishing the round because it was going to be close to my max anyway. They knocked off some good rounds and mad some bad ones count. Trying something difference, trying to get more con. with my swing so the bad holes aren't horrible like they usually are. It slowly coming around. I feel a good round coming soon as for sandbagging, , you've seen my play the last two rounds. If I told you I was a 25 capper you would probably believe mewilly

14.8 so silly is only supposed to get 3 at the course.

Nice of you to finally admit who the better golfer is
But that is just overall, different courses play to different players and I'm not playing Irish Hills for our matches. Much like I wouldn't suggest you playing me at the course I worked at throughout high school, you wouldn't stand a chance.Even I've never heard of me

My brother's handicap is 3-4 strokes higher than mine and he kicks my butt regularly. Last year his handicap was 9 strokes higher than mine and he never once asked for a single stroke. Practice and determination will get you a lot further in any sport than asking for mercy.
I don't care what anyone's handicap is, I never ask for strokes.
Of course if this is league play and those are the rules, then he should give you the strokes. However you should both agree on a neutral course. The opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

No leagues involved. First to 10 wins gets to talk smack forever.

You are a 14.8 and you sound knowlegeble enough to understand the relationship between playing ability and local knowlege. Playing a 'home' course all the time lowers your cap by virtue of the 'better' scores played there. He'd actually be at a DISadvantage playing you elsewhere if your game is one based on travelling around each time you play.

If Irish Hills was his home course and he played there all season his cap would be a lot lower than it is now for sure.

Well if he doesn't play there enough for it to affect his cap, what are you concerned about?

Not worried about his cap, just the course. Silly plays nothing like an 18.2 at Irish Hills.

Ach! Golf is golf. You still need to hit the shots and make the putts, regardless of where you play. We're talking Irish Hills, right? That course is flatter than a pancake stuck to an elephant's foot. Who cares who plays where? Suck it up and play.
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

After further review.... if you guys have been playing with handicaps for bragging rights all summer, then you should play him at least once on his favorite course with the same strokes as anywhere else.
Look at it this way. You're supposed to lose, so if he beats you it's no biggie. If on the other hand you win there you can rub it in his face foreverThe opinions expressed in this post are mine and may not necessarily reflect the opinions of others on OG.

Oh something I forgot to mention: we have already played a round at Irish Hills earlier this year when our caps were even and he won.

So you guys started this earlier this year when your caps were even, and now that his game has slipped and/or you've improved he wants strokes? Pathetic... really pathetic....

actually we started when my cap was lower and adam was getting strokes... then it went to even.. and now he owes me strokes.
Reid, if you don't understand how match play with strokes work, just get out of the thread. We've heard your opinion and repeating it over and over again makes you looks sillywilly

Sorry Willy. You asked for opinions. I didn't realize that you only wanted ones which supported your point of view. Keep working on getting that handicap down LOL!
