    Brian Kilrea's Retirement

After 34 years the Ottawa 67's long time Head Coach Brian Kilrea will retire at the end of the 2008/09 OHL season.

Ottawa will be losing a great coach and mentor of young hockey players when Kilrea walks off the bench after his last game this year.

The most wins in the CHL, two Memorial Cups, three OHL Championships and a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

I was at the London/Ottawa game last Sunday when the Knights presented Brian with a gift.

The crowd gave him a long standing ovation. well deserved.

I know for a fact he convinced the current 67's Captain, Logan Couture to come and play in Ottawa. A decision Logan does not regret.

He will be missed around the OHL.

He also golfs, so maybe some of you will run into him on the courses around Ottawa, if you have not had the pleasure yet.

Thanks Brain for all you have done for hockey in Ottawa, CHL and every player who has played for you in the past.

I think there are plenty, but while his retirement and accomplishments may have been celebrated his final time in London, there are a few more games left up here. This is also not Killer's first retirement...

When it comes to retiring Killer is the Brett Farve of the OHL

He is a class act. I played Junior B when I was 15 (stupidly, missing midget) and wrote Brian asking for a tryout. He actually wrote back explaining the scouting, draft process. I never played at that level but still respect him taking the time to do so. I contact resources in my company only to get nothing back.
