The biggest difference will be the drop from 4 or 5 wires for video and audio to 1 wire in HDMI. Your eye will not be able to tell the image quality difference if you're TV is propery calibarated however.

100% right. its just a cleaner, and less fuss. Some claim the HDMI cable can send information faster but who knows. I have my xbox hooked up with component and my pvr with HDMI.. they're both 1080(xbox p)(pvr i) and both look pretty awesome... infact i want to go home right now and watch it.
oh and my HDMI cable is a dynex - $33.09 from futureshop and I have a flawless picture. Monster can eat it.Scott - Golf...Fail.

The funny part is that you still overpaid by 5-10x. It's been said many times before, but monoprice.com is where it's at for HDMI cables.
HDMI is a DIGITAL signal - there is obviously signal degradation at longer lengths, but you will NOT notice a difference between ANY short-length HDMI cables. It's all 1's and 0's, so either it gets the signal or it doesn't - and if it passed the HDMI standard, then it will.

bluejeanscable.com has been great for me. 50ft cable for $65. If in a rush, sometimes princess auto has some at the back for pretty cheap

That same 50ft. cable is $40 at Monoprice. However, either way its still cheaper at your astore than the big box stores.

Old thread but I just made my first purchase of cables at monoprice.com after buying my first blu-ray player tonight, hopefully the cables are as good as everyone keeps saying. Hope the shipping doesn't take too long.

I've been using the same monoprice cables for 5+ years now and have never had an issue.
