Inexpensive HDMI Cables?
WHere in Ottawa can you find some inexpensive HDMI cables. I Know Ebay has tons but time is factor need to grab them tomorrow. Friday Jan 2nd. So need somewhere local.
In toronto there's Tiger Direct and a few other outlets. Is there a similar spot in Ottawa?
Cheers and Thanks in Advance.

In Western Canada, there is Real Canadian Superstore which is owned by Loblaw's. I suggest trying Loblaw's in Eastern Canada.

Factory Direct on Merivale, beside Lebaron's Outdoor, sells 3 foot hdmi cables for $10. Sears has a deal on Monster hdmi cables, 3 foot for $48 starting tomorrow.

Not sure what your definition of 'inexpensive' is but I picked up some 6' HDMI cables at Future Shop for $60.

hey i bought cheap cables and they couldn't run 1080p and had trouble running 1080i/720p... you have to get hdmi cables that are labelled 1.3b or 1.3a, never 1.3c... i think, to support anything worth watching.

Check out RCSS, apparently they have 6' on for $6.94. I haven't verified this though.

I like the comment from the former Future Shop employee who concedes that the Monster Cables don't offer better PQ than the cheaper cables, but tries to argue that they will last Forever. Just think about that argument for a second. Do you actually believe that a cable used indoors to connect a TV to a Blu-Ray player 6 feet away is going to deteriorate so quickly that you should pay between 8-25x the price for a cable that will last forever? Would it not be smarter to say, hold onto your money until this cable turns to dust, and just purchase a new one for another $10 then?
In addition to that, look at how many different types of cables have been used over the past 10-20 years to transmit between devices. Coax, RCA, Component, VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort... Many companies are now working on the tech to broadcast FullHD wirelessly. Does anyone actually believe that their cable is going to degrade so quickly that it won't be obsolete by the time the rubber is brittle and crumbling?
Don't throw that $200 you just saved on your flat-screen back at the retail store. Save your money so that your can get screwed by Rogers or Bell later on.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

Myself, and a buddy, who I would consider to be an audio/videophile have used and recommended monoprice exclusively for the last year and I have yet to hear a complaint.

Call the marketing people at Monster, you'll surely get an earful.
You want to know where that extra cost from a Monster Cable goes?.... To suing a mini-golf company.Let's put a Smile on that Face!

Possibly a silly question but is there that big of a difference in viewing quality between the HDMI cable and the 'gold plated' 3 wire cable that comes with the TV?
I have an HDMI cable but can't install it until I replace the cable box because oddly enough, the Rogers cable box doesn't have an HDMI connectionProud member of the 2009 OG/TGN Ryder Cup Champions

Usually the HDMI is a little bit better than the component cable.
I did a comparison between the two on my Rogers HD PVR box and if you looked carefully on some material you could see a small difference. I ended up ditching the HDMI for the cable box though because there are a few annoying things with how it works on the PVR.Not fat anymore. Need to get better at golf now!
