This is getting a lot of play in the American sports media right now. Obviously, some non-golfers are incredulous that someone would do that to themselves, others wonder if the standard should apply in all sports (Hey Ref, I tripped that guy back there, you need to giv me a penalty
)...
It's what makes golf really unique, IMO.

Agreed, but in sports, getting away with something is too often praised.

It's a sad commentary when something like this is considered news-worthy, but then again, it's coming from a general sports mentality that believes that "it's only cheating if you get caught."
When applying the Rules, you follow them line by line. You don't read between them.

I am sure J.P Hayes would have preferred that no one know what had happened, thank goodness he is getting praised. if it hapenned to Woosenam I think he would have killed his caddy
