Course Openings in Kingston???
Anyone from the Kingston area know of any course openings? I only know of my own (Garrison) scheduled for 18 Apr. This seems late because there's so many other courses further north opening before us

Garrison's spring cleanup is scheduled for the 16th, open on the 17th. The Par 3 at Westbrook should be open very soon. Also, Camden Braes is usually one of the first to open. I would not be surprised to see them open within the next week. Sorry, I know you were looking for firm dates, but those are the courses that come to my mind right now. Course to avoid - Glen Lawrence has terrible drainage, so even if they do open, it won't be worth playing until well into May IMO, unless we get no rain at all.

i called amherstview today and they said that they hope to open next weekend (April 8) as long as we don't get any severe weather between now and then. Good times ahead!

Well here is the 14 day outlook and looks like some cold weather coming back next week which sucks. Always gotta to expect mother nature to kick us in the balls one more time just when you think the winter is over..
If it does open, I am definitly there.

Mike Compeau, head pro at Loyalist GCC, was on K-Rock the other morning saying that they may be open as early as this Thursday, April 7th.
I heard from a friend who plays at Amherstview that they could be open this week as well, barring any disasterous weather.
Dan, I'm not an official rep for Garrison, but I can pretty much assure you that they will be open for regular play on 17th of April.
We're getting close now...

Amherstview is Open! I went today. The course is absolutely soaked (so wear some old golf shoes). I don't really understand why they opened. However the greens were in pretty decent shape; very slow, but they didnt roll too bad. It was $25 and it is golf, so all and all a pretty decent day for me i suppose.

I'm playing Loyalist at 2:07 this afternoon! My buddy played there yesterday and said it is very playable. Still some water in a few bunkers, but pretty dry overall, and the greens were very good. They are charging $40 (it's usually $55 on weekends). GIDDY UP!

I played the Braes yesturday,cold-windy and wet.The greens were horible, not worth the $30 even if it was my first round of the year.

I was thinking of going to Camden Braes this week, but i thought that they would be charging a little less because of the wet conditions and the fact that the fairways probably havent been mowed yet....i guess i'll hold off and wait a week or two until the courses in the area dry out a little. Its just not worth $30 to hit shots out of the mud all day long.

Loyalist was very good on Saturday. The greens were the best I have ever seen anywhere at this time of year. There was some water on the course and in some traps, but not too bad. I only had to take relief a few times really. It should be even better right now. Not sure how much they are charging for weekday fees right now. It was $40 on Saturday (normally they charge $55).

nevermind, just came back from Belle Park. It was really really dry. Actaully it was in the best shape ive seen it in in some time. The greens were kinda crappy, but much better than they were at they end of last year...although there is just something about the way the course is layed out that always gives me trouble with the driver...anyways, i actaully thought it was in much better shape than Amherstview....well worth the $14 right now when all the other courses are just dripping wet

I went at twilight (4pm), so it was $14 for as many holes as you could play (i played 18). During the regular hours it costs $14 for 9 holes and $18 something for 18 holes. I think that is a little overpriced. For me twilight is perfect because that is my fav time to play golf any ways.

I just moved to Kingston in the fall. I have only played one course before snow fell, westbrook. I went there this week to use the range, the par 3 and the 18 are both open. I am going out Sunday.
